We're expecting!

We're going to be new parents... of a conure! He was hatched on March 31 of this year is is currently being weanedand we'll pick him up on June 2. We've ordered a cage and toys which should be here soon. The kids are so excited and there has been a great debate about what we should name our new little feathered friend.

We were over at my parent's house on Friday for dinner and GooseyGirl decided to start a list with everyone's ideas for a birdie name. We were all brainstorming and names were flying.

"Connie the Conure", GooseyGirl said.

"Cleo", I hollered.

"Pecker!", Grandma yelled.

!!!!!!!

Apparently, Grandma, a conservative Christian, got a little carried away by the whole shout-out-everything-that-comes-to-mind provision of this exercise in creativity. Fortunately GooseyGirl thought she said, "Pepper".

"Pepper??? That's a crazy name Grammy!", GooseyGirl said.

Grandma realizes what she just hollered out from the kitchen with a house full of little ones and starts giggling uncontrollably. I hide behind the newspaper as GooseyGirl continues thinking of names unaware of what just transpired, thank goodness.

By the way, the bird now has a name. Meet Apollo, the Green-cheeked Conure.
